Portraits in oils
To complete a portrait takes up to three months. This allows for drying time, varnishing and framing. Although I can work from a client’s photograph, I have to be sure the quality and composition and good enough. If not, I take the pictures. I see a portrait as a collaboration between me, the subject, or whoever commissioned the picture. Part of this is deciding on the painting's style, which can be either classical or contemporary.
During the course of a painting, photographs of each stage (usually four) are sent to the client for discussion, allowing for any requested changes.

Still life or with birds in oils
This usually begins with a prospective buyer's idea for a painting. Before commencement, a composite photograph will be produced to ensure it is in line with the brief. The process is very similar to that used for portraits of people and animals, though they typically take less time.
I never copy an original painting a client has purchased; however, I can paint a piece on a similar theme.
Costs vary depending on complexity, with a starting price of £650
