BIRD AND STILL LIFE PAINTINGS IN OILS FOR SALE
As a keen bird-watcher, combining them with still life made perfect sense because I can let my imagination run wild. Not all compositions work as well as intended, and they end up hidden away in my studio, but they always provide the opportunity to learn something new. Sometimes my ideas are generated by objects; the songbirds on musical instruments are a typical example. Other times, I look for bird species to pair with an object. A nuthatch or coal tit will make a regular appearance because, for some reason, I adore them.
Whenever I can, I bring the bird and the object together to tell a story; at other times, it is based upon a composition that works well. The exciting thing about this aspect of my artwork is the possibilities for paintings waiting to be uncovered. And I love it when a commission client asks for a particular bird with an object, often musical, because I know it is likely to bring the sort of challenges I relish.
