All of my workshops are in and around Ross on Wye, Herefordshire. I only take a maximum of four students at a time to ensure that everyone gets as much of my help as they feel they need. I aim to provide a relaxed, supportive and positive environment to build confidence and enthusiasm to take learning forward.
Materials, reference photographs and lunch are provided.
Cost: £220
Suitability: If you have some experience, and painted before in any medium, my workshops will be right for you.
Group bookings: A special workshop can be arranged for groups who want to paint together.
Individual tuition: a one-to-one workshop can be arranged at my studio, costing £350 for two days.

I get a lot of satisfaction from teaching. Seeing students achieve things they didn’t think possible is a heart-warming experience to share.

I demonstrate each stage of the process, and every student will complete a painting over the two days.

Two day Still life in oils workshop
Learn to paint different textures in oils such as glass, metal, cloth, fruit and wood.
We begin with a drawing onto the canvas followed by a quick underpainting in thin acrylics. From there oil paint is added in layers.
Glazing for shadows, colour mixing and impasto highlights are all covered in detail.
Two day animal, dogs, horses or bird workshop In oils
Learn to paint fur, feathers, expressive eyes, facial structure and character.
We begin with a drawing onto the canvas followed by a grisaille underpainting. Oil paint is then built up in layers to create.
