This was a real tricky one, and never having painted something like this before, it took a long time.
The car is a 20/25 Rolls Royce and is 85 years old, and the owner was very keen on the detail being spot on. I kept discovering new knobs, screws and buttons as I progressed.
It was also photographed on a grey wet day, so I had to brighten everything up. The background landscape was made up, as the original setting was a bit dull.
There must be at least 25 glazes on this to get the depth right.
“I just wanted to email you both to say thank you for a wonderful 3 days at your Portrait workshop. Thank you Mike for sharing your know-how and vast knowledge. I learnt so much from your workshop, and I cracked on with the Portraits as soon as I got home, because I didn’t want to forget anything you had taught me. I deeply appreciated our little talk at the end of the course, I have never received such encouragement. Thanks again ..”
