I'm currently working on a commission of a Neuropsychologist (hope I've spelt that right), and it is a biggie (6ft high). It is going to take some time so, as I always do, I work on a couple of my own paintings as fillers.
The picture below of Cathy is one I started 10 years ago (never work with kids, animals and ..... wives). There is still some work to do but basically I have updated the original pic by overpainting her current top and leopard print pyjamas.
Since starting the picture I have always been bothered by her left hand which sat awkwardly behind the book, now I've decided to bring it forward to hold the book and it is definitely getting better.
I'll post the finished painting in due course. It was really tricky to do because I've had to make a fair bit up given it was impossible to accurately mimic the original pose.
Trying to make my mind up about if I dare add ten years more age to the face - thoughts please, and keep them clean (Des).
“I just wanted to email you both to say thank you for a wonderful 3 days at your Portrait workshop. Thank you Mike for sharing your know-how and vast knowledge. I learnt so much from your workshop, and I cracked on with the Portraits as soon as I got home, because I didn’t want to forget anything you had taught me. I deeply appreciated our little talk at the end of the course, I have never received such encouragement. Thanks again ..”
